Sie ist kolossal, Elton Johns «Farewell Yellow Brick Road»-Tour, mit der er sich von der Bühne und seinen Fans verabschieden will.

Elton Johns Karriere und seine Errungenschaften sind bis dato unübertroffen, was ihre Langlebigkeit anbelangt. Elton ist einer der bestverkaufenden Solokünstler aller Zeiten, schaffte ein diamantenes, 38 Platin oder Multiplatin und 26 Gold-Alben, über 50 Top-40-Hits sowie über 300 Millionen verkaufte Alben weltweit. Er hält seit 1997 den Weltrekord der meistverkauften Single aller Zeiten – das war «Candle In The Wind» in der Version für die damals verstorbene Lady Diana -, die über 33 Millionen Mal über den Ladentisch ging. Zuletzt brachte Elton John eine Greatest-Hits-Sammlung namens «Diamonds» auf den Markt, die es
auf Platz 5 der englischen Alben-Charts schaffte und damit Eltons vierzigstes Top-40-Album wurde. Die Sammlung feierte 50 Jahre Songwriting-Partnerschaft zwischen Elton und seinem Texter Bernie Taupin. Im August 2018 erhielt Elton die Auszeichnung als erfolgreichster männlicher Solokünstler der Billboard-Chartsgeschichte mit 67 Einträgen, darunter neun Nummer-Eins-Hits und 27 Top Tens.
Die neue Bühnenproduktion entführt seine Fans auf eine musikalische und auch visuelle Reise durch die 50-jährige Karriere mit all den Hits - eine Reise, wie sie noch nie jemand gesehen hat. 2019 war das Jahr des Elton John. Mit dem epischen Fantasy-Musical-Biopic «Rocketman» über sein Leben, fuhr Elton John einen riesigen Erfolg auf der grossen Leinwand ein. Und auch seine Autobiographie mit dem Titel «Me» ist erschienen.

Statement von Elton John zur Verschiebung:
‹It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the UK to 2023.
At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considera-ble pain and discomfort in my hip ever since. Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving. I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications. I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.
I am going to complete the charitable Global Citizen event on 25th September as I don’t want to let a charity down. Being just five songs it’s a very different physical undertaking to the demands of playing for close to three hours every night on tour and travelling overnight between coun-tries. After this I will be having the operation to ensure the tour can get back on the road in Jan-uary of 2022 in New Orleans.
I know how patient my incredible fans have been since Covid halted touring last year, and it breaks my heart to keep you waiting any longer. I completely feel your frustrations after the year we’ve had. I promise you this - the shows will return to the road next year and I will make sure they are more than worth the wait.
